In the very beginnings of modern African American theatre, a network of inspired theatrical troupes, artists and educators in Houston nurtured and produced playwrights of national and international acclaim. This Tuesday, February 13th, The Ensemble Theatre will honor these playwrights in the 2007 inaugural Salute to Texas Playwrights. Curtain Call is honored to present two of these pillars of African American theatre: Celeste Bedford-Walker and Thomas Meloncon. Listen and learn about their lives, their love for their craft and the rich history that is Houston’s African American theatre.
